Job description.

We are looking for an Account Director to join our client’s team, leading a portfolio of key accounts and owning both the relationship and commercial performance. You will protect margin, manage scope and make sure complex projects are delivered on brief, on time and on budget.

Acting as the senior strategic partner between client stakeholders and the agency team, you set direction, shape programmes and become the go-to expert on their brand, business and industry. You are confident working across CRM, project management and finance tools to drive visibility, forecasting and control, while keeping delivery tight and aligned to agreed processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the strategic direction, delivery and commercial performance of a portfolio of key accounts.
  • Act as the senior day-to-day contact, building respected, trusted peer-to-peer relationships with mid to senior level marketing stakeholders.
  • Define account and programme objectives, ensuring the team is clear on outcomes, measures of success and delivery milestones.
  • Lead internal strategic meetings, synthesise insights and present clear recommendations and plans.
  • Develop robust scopes of work and staffing plans, ensuring projects are properly costed, resourced and tracked.
  • Monitor account health: margin, HR%, temp spend, pipeline and forecasting confidence, taking early action to resolve risks.
  • Identify, lead and close organic and net-new opportunities, leveraging internal expertise and teams to shape compelling solutions.
  • Ensure tools, processes and methodologies are consistently and efficiently applied across your accounts.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams, giving clear direction, coaching and feedback.
  • Mentor and support more junior team members; in some cases manage one or more direct reports and/or onsite resources.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience working with global brands, ideally within an agency or consultancy environment.
  • Proven track record of independently setting account/programme strategy and translating it into clear plans and deliverables.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing large, multi-line budgets and forecasting revenue with confidence.
  • Confident leading senior stakeholder and internal meetings, framing issues and opportunities and presenting clear, structured thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to spot, develop and win new business opportunities within existing and new accounts.
  • Comfortable working with CRM, project management and finance tools, and using data to inform decisions.
  • Experienced people leader: able to inspire, mentor and develop individuals and teams, including in a matrix / dotted-line environment.

Please note that MCG Talent can only respond to those candidates that we feel meet the criteria laid out by our client.
